Google introduces Adsense Referral Program

Log into Adsense today and there was a new agreement. One major addition is a new Referral program for Adsense.

The referral amount is very generous as well.

"When a publisher that signed up for AdSense through your referral earns their
initial $100.00 and is eligible for payout, we’ll credit your account with
$100.00."

I wonder who else Google is trying to attract. Unlike some program (like Yahoo) which only caters to US publisher, Google is truely global. That’s why almost every websites that wants to monetise their traffic already have Adsense.

By the way, notice the buttons? Doesn’t looks look quite like usual Google style.

Announcing Wikivestor

For some time I had wanted to spin off my investment and free softwares content into a separate section. The blog format is not as ideal as the wiki format for these purposes.

The ball started rolling with the switch to this new site layout. It took longer than expected to convert the template for Mediawiki but it’s finally done.

So there you have it: Wikivestor, a wiki for investors. Next, to beef up the content.

Still thinking of a name for the free softwares section (suggestion?) but that should follow pretty soon.

Drop by Wikivestor and add a content or two to the wiki.

FireFox 1.5 RC1

Firefox upgraded to 1.5RC1. I had been using Firefox beta for a while, visually and user experience wise I find nothing much different from 1.0 Firefox. The emphasis here is visually. Under the hood there are major changes, at the risk of repeating Mozilla.org, here are the changes:

  • Automated update to streamline product upgrades.
  • Faster browser navigation.
  • Drag and drop for browser tabs.
  • Improvements to popup blocking.
  • Clear Private Data feature.
  • Answers.com added to search engine list.
  • Descriptive error pages, redesigned options menu, and RSS discovery.
  • Better accessibility support.
  • Report a broken Web site wizard.
  • Better support for Mac OS X.

Today I experienced the streamline upgrade. Must say it is pretty neat. No save to disk, exit running Firefox, doubleclick to install process. Firefox 1.5 detects the upgrade, downloaded it and prompt to restart. Done.

Try it.

Update:  More on using free softwares in business at Free Biz Ware.

ZeroShock notebook case

Brough myself a ZeroShock notebook case yesterday. The B5 size fits my HP NC4000 perfectly.

One thing I notice about the polyurethane foam (the springy material that creates the slow return feel) is that it recovers very slowly in cold environment. Initially I thought it was a defect after some depressions I made did not return. But everything bounces back up after I place my notebook on top of it (the NC4000 is pretty hot). In a warm environment like Singapore, the case has a very exclusive feel.

You really have to see and feel one to fall in love with it.
