Keeping fit and healthy

One thing that kept nagging me recently is my fitness or the lack thereof. Doing something about it is top on my todo list.

An avid sports person before coming to China, I gym 2-3 times a week, played canoe polo in the weekend, swam once or twice a week.

Keeping up with this kind of sporty, healthy lifestyle is tough and made tougher here in Shanghai. For the last 2 years, I practically never exercise and my tummy bears testimony.

Excuses. Gyms are expensive, the cheaper one are terrible to go to in winter. Swimming is expensive due to the heating this time of the year but still comparatively more expensive than Singapore in summer as well. Jogging on the road is out, not only due to the air pollution but also the traffic, pavement condition and people. Motivation is another issue. Sport is fun when there is a group of friends to do together. Here it is people hardy want to take a time off.

Nevertheless time to do something about it before it is too late. Health is one of those thing that is important but not urgent. Once time runs out, there is no going back in time to compensate for all those routines that should had been done.

Do it now.
