Using free software alternatives

It had been a while since I last wrote an update on free desktop softwares. Fact is, that’s about as much software as I use for work and business.

Typically a small business uses an office suite, email, web browser and a few utilities. By using these free desktop softwares alternatives, entrepreneurs and startup can save substantial money. Money that can be put to good use for elsewhere.

I had been using these software to good effect. The best case in point - Microsoft Office no longer lives on my desktop.

Of course I will be first to admit that it is not easy to get on the learning curve. Getting my staffs, co-workers, partners and friends to use them had proved a challenge indeed.

The battle for Free Desktop is not yet won. I will continue to chronicle the struggle to free the user desktop.

Next, I’m moving on to cover free development softwares - softwares used by software developer. How entrepreneurs in software related business can leverage on free softwares written by their counterparts.
