Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. - Thomas A. Edison
Time and again this quote had been an encourage to me, reminding me to hold on, to allow time for things to work out.
On closer analysis, there is something logically wrong with it. It reminded me of a childhood riddle, "Why do you always find thing at the last place you look?" "Because after you found it, you stop looking." Duh?
But here’s the catch. Before you find it, you wouldn’t know the place being searched is the last place. You keep looking and looking, hoping to find it. If you then give up, there is a nagging feeling that if you would just look for it one last place, you might find it.
Likewise for success.Only after success can you look back and say how close it
was to the thought of giving up. Give up and the nagging feelings follow.
Of course, giving up may not be a choice but an eventuality… May it never happens.
